Southwest & Starwood Promotion

Starwood hotels is running an excellent deal with Southwest Airlines through the end of the year.  For every eligible stay at a Sheraton, Four Points by Sheraton, Aloft or Elements, you can earn 1,000 Southwest points.  If you do not have a Southwest Rapid Rewards account, you can earn 250 points for signing up here.

The 250 points posted immediately to my account.

The Starwood Promotion can be found here.

You must register by October 15th and can earn the bonus points on all stays from August 1st to December 15, 2011.  There is no limit on the amount of bonus points that you can earn.

Southwest has a revenue based point redemption program.  Wanna Get Away Fares are 60 pts per dollar, Anytime Fares are 100 pts per dollar and Business Select Fares are 120 pts per dollar.  1,000 pts will be equal to $16, $10 or $8.33 dollars.

Southwest runs promotions and typically has inexpensive fares.  Say you wanted to go somewhere that was $240 roundtrip.  At the Wanna Get Away Fares, you would need 14,400 points, or 15 nights in a Starwood hotel.  This is definitely NOT mattress run material, but if you had some stays coming up and had a Southwest account, this would be a nice addition to your miles collection.

Thanks to The Points Guy for the heads up on the Southwest Enrollment Bonus and to Loyalty Traveler for the heads up on these points.
